Specific goals of the 2009 meeting: This is only the 2ND TIME that the Symposium will be held IN THE INDO-PACIFIC REGION. This is an opportunity to highlight the important and valuable work that is being undertaken in SE Asia and PNG to conserve marine turtles.

In line with this year’s overall Symposium theme of Creating – Community – Collaboration the SE Asian & PNG meeting specifically aims to create an opportunity for building communication and networking among people at local and regional scales. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for people from each major stakeholder group to meet and discuss issues such as e.g. nesting beach management, bycatch, migration, and social/economical/ and cultural aspects of marine turtle management and conservation that is specific to the SE Asian & PNG region.
